Your GP's surgery is far more than a place to go when you are feeling unwell or are injured. Our aim is to help you to prevent illness and maintain optimal health.
Test Results: Due to the number of test results received, we are unable to notify you of all your results. However, patients will be notified with all test results that will change management within an acceptable time frame. You can now view your results on our patient portal or call and speak to our practice nurse.
Adult Heath Checks: If you would like a general health check please make an appointment with one of our doctors. Normally this will involve blood pressure, weight, body mass index (BMI), blood tests, cardiovascular risk assessment, and general well-being.
Breast cancer checks: We will advise you of appropriate screening for your age and family history and we can refer for mammograms or other investigations as needed.
Cervical Smears: All sexually active people with a cervix between the ages of 25 and 70 are advised to have a cervical screening test. Note that the method has now changed to an option of a self swab. Aske you doctor or nurse if this is the best method for you.
Contraception, Family Planning Advice and Sexual Health Checks:
Disabled Access: There is an off-street car park for disabled people with an access ramp at the rear entrance to the building. We also have a toilet for disabled people and we are able to offer any assistance that is required.
Immunisation: Our nurses are trained immunisation providers. We offer advice on full range of immunisations for children, travel, influenza and tetanus.
Liquid Nitrogen: Liquid nitrogen is a fast, effective treatment provided in many practices to treat viral warts, sun damaged skin, skin tags and many benign cosmetic lesions.
Specific Medical Examinations: We are happy to conduct medical examinations and reports required by insurance companies, employers, diving certification, driving licenses, etc. Please advise us about the type of medical that you need when you make your appointment so we can allow enough time.
Mental Well-Being: It is part of our role to support people with low mood, psychological issues and psychiatric diagnoses. It is helpful if you book a longer appointment to discuss these issues, especially for a new presentation.
Minor accident care: We can assist you with treatment for minor injuries.
Minor Surgery: Minor surgery provides fast, competent removal and biopsies of skin lesions. Please make an appointment with your doctor to see whether this is an option or we may refer you to an appropriate specialist.
Nurse Clinics: Nurse appointments are available from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Our nurses have been trained for specialist roles including:
Pregnancy Care: In New Zealand pregnancy care is mainly done by midwives and specialist obstetricians. We are funded to see you free of charge in the first 12 weeks of your pregnancy. We can arrange testing, discuss options for care and can manage early pregnancy complications.
Normally we will meet you and your baby at about 6 weeks after the birth for a baby check and immunisations. This is an important visit in supporting you and giving us the opportunity to start a relationship with your child.
Smoking Cessation: Our doctors and nurses can advise and provide support for smoking cessation. We are able to offer practical strategies as well as subsidized medications and nicotine replacement.
Travel Medicine: We can give you advice prior to your travel and are able to give most travel vaccinations.
